このニュースはアメリカで唯一の全国紙（New York Timesなどほどんどが地方紙）で大々的に取り上げられている。
It was billed as "Elisabeth's huge announcement" on Wednesday's The View.
And it was the hot topic that kicked off the show, as Elisabeth Hasselbeck walked in arm-in-arm with Barbara Walters.
上の文章を読んで二人の女性が肩を組んでステージに歩いて出てきている姿を想像できているだろうか？
"I am a little emotional," said a shaky Walters, "or as Barbara sometimes says, I'm a little verklempt."
「私は今とても感情的なの」と言っているバーバラがshaky震えながらverklemptなのと言った。
何？そのverklemptって？ 誰も知らない単語かもしれない。普通の辞書に載っていなかった。 overcome with emotionという意味だそうだ。
She continued: "It was reported last night that our Elisabeth is leaving us to join to the Fox network. ... As you can see I'm a little teary. I always want what's best for you. You know how I feel about you."
バーバラが続けて語っている。Elisabethが我々からFox Networkに移って・・・・・・と。
Then she said, "I'm happy that you're going." Realizing her blunder, she quickly said, "No, I'm not happy that you're going! ... You tell us about it."
blunderは名詞で「重大なミス、失敗」 単語の意味はすべてわかると思う。でも文章は禅問答のよう。
Hasselbeck said, "I'm happy and excited to confirm that I'll be joining the Fox & Friends team in September."
上は、とってもわかりやすい文章。
She thanked cast, crew, security, sound, makeup and "everyone behind the scenes."

とっても読みやすい文章だったと思う。
