さて本書だが、ヘタをすると世界から中国が突き上げられかねない内容だ。 我々も時折耳にしていることがだが、中国が凄まじい勢いで世界の資源や土地を買いあさっている事実。
何よりも彼が強調しているのは、wasteful lifestylesつまり「使い捨て文化」、これは元をたどれば西洋諸国に其の端がある。我々が中国でfossil fuel=石化燃料の利用量が増えることを嘆いている間、彼らがどれだけ自動車を抱きしめ、中心に据え置くことでアメリカ生活を真似しようとしているかを知るべきだ。
